Just, you know...Try to imagine Swiper out of the picture.

Ooooooooh.

These pictures don't really show the kind of high-powered, tooth-shattering gloss that you can see in real life; It's very pretty, very antique-y.
And in case anyone was wondering about that horrible smell in the dining room, yesterday Swiper went under the house and came out with a desiccated, malodorous, petrified, & partially masticated feline corpsicle. He generously offered to share it with me.
Anyway, the smell's gone, and in case any of you were wondering, no I did not get a picture. Although now that I think of it, that would have been cool. Maybe I'll go dig it out of the trash tomorrow.
Also, in case any of you were wondering, you can put chalkboard paint on an Altoid tin.

I can't wait to put up the chalkboard mural in the girl's room; I can't decide between a pony shape and a flower shape, but either way it will be unbelievably cool.

*ahem* i have to adjust the volume and pitch of my voice for this post. do re mi mi mi mi....
OH MY GOODNESS IT LOOKS EVEN BETTER THAN I HOPED IT WOULD! It's freaking gorgeous!!! I love how the color isn't all the same so you still get the personality of the floor through (old and abused, but still cool)!! You did a FANTASTIC job with the staining and the poly! I'm going to put in some more exclamation points becuase that's how good it looks!!1!!!!!!!!1! I just cannot beleive how good it looks! I bet it looks ever cooler and better in person! *I* have warm fuzzies just thinking about how cool it looks, that's how beautiful that floor is.
I'm so glad we were able to come down and do that with you. I feel so much better leaving with at least one part of your house nice-ified.
Can't rant some more about the beauteousness that is your new floor cause I have to be somewhere in half an hour, but OMFGoodness it looks GREAT! Have a fun time with the chalkboard paint, kk? And I'm glad you finally turned your mom-superpowers to solving the altoids/chalkboard paint question for us all. It was keeping me up nights, and you know how much I need my sleep. = )
We love you!
OK, so I'm back and like any good fangirl I'm posting more. = ) Still love the floor. Looks awesome. Looks beautiful. Looks like you could perform surgery on it with STYLE. (Was I right about it making the room seem more anchored and cleaner? Tell me I was right....)
Glad you got the dead cat out from under the house, cause it really did smell like dead cat in your dining room. But at least you have a good excuse, seeing as there really WAS a dead cat involved in that particular odor. = )
You should really check out this Netherlander site: http://producten.hema.nl/
Just...load it and then look around at the words for the stull the sell and their baby cups. It will all make sense in about 8 seconds after you load the page. It's pretty cool.
So now that you've started the downward spiral of home-improvement addiction, have you decided on a shape for the chalkboard wall? And are you going to give Rocket one? (football shaped? Rocket shaped?) And what color did you eventually decide on for your kitchen, if any? Next time we come down, if you're stillin that house, that's going to be a project. (I have no idead when we're coming down next, I'm just giving you fair warning. = ))
